Naturally, termites are not a pest; their recycling of wood and plant matter is ecologically important. However, when they invade our homes and damage wood and structures, they become destructive pests. Termites are sometimes called “white ants”, though they are not closely related to true ants.
There are two phases in the termite control programme:
- Pre-construction (for new structures) — IS 6313-1
- Post-construction (after construction) — IS 6313-11
